Today I am sharing a reading with my commentary, because I believe that lies flourish when we are silent about the goodness of God. Since the excerpt I’m reading is so long, I wanted to read it aloud rather than uploading chonky, blurry image files. This excerpt is from the Patrologia Orientalis Tomus Decimus Quartus (Volume 14), section one “A Collection of Letters of Severus of Antioch, From Numerous Syriac Manuscripts” translated by E. W. Brooks. Published in Paris in 1920 (therefore public domain if you can find it!). The letter is LXIX (69) “The Letter of the Holy Mar Severus, Patriarch of Antioch, to Anastasia the Deaconess.” Patriarch Severus was Patriarch of Antioch from 512 to 538.
